**NEW** WW1 Austo-Hungarian Vehicle information
Permalink

Hello Guys, I thought I would share with you some drawing from a book I received for Christmas, It deals with Austro-Hungarian vehicles used in the First World War, My only problem with it is, it is in Hungariann. I thought since we are all interested in WW1 vehicles, you would enjoy these. They are,

1 .Austin Armoured Car, Converted, with a small turret.

2. Junovicz Armoured Car Drawing

3. Romfell No 1 Armoured Car, Deawing also showing a armoured trailer.

4. Romfell No 2 Armoured Car, Drawing showing different detail than No 1

5. Romfell No 3 1/2 Armoured Truck with AA gun

6.Now here is the kicker, a Austrian Armoured Half Track on a Holt chassis. The Hora Holt Drawing

7. Raba Artillery Tractor Drawing

I dont know about you guys, But I think they are awesome, I am very happy about the Hora Holt, And I also have a drawing of a Tank, yes I said Tank designed by AH, it resembles the A7V, it is called the A20, I will post it later.

I hope you enjoy these as much as I have.

All the Best

Tim R

Wow!...excellent drawings Tim.

I have been familiar with the Romfell AC for some time, but was unaware that an armoured trailer existed for it!....very cool news.

Your Romfell #3 with AA gun is a superb bit of reference for us 'scratchers'....because it shows the underlying frame and substructure...nice. And as you say, the Hora-Holt is quite the unique piece, and certainly something I can safely say I haven't seen before either....

Thx again Tim..glad you got that book for Xmas

Tread.

So, Santa was good to you for some reason.  Sounds like you did well.  Can you tell us the name of your new book, and does it deal with all motor vehicles used by the K.u.K. ?

GREAT! Great new info Tim!!!! One almost feels tempted to do some scratch-building again. Fabulous. Never thought we could get this far on these obscure vehicles!

And please: the book, do you have a title and author? And WHEN was it published.

Hello guys

I believe the name is as follows (the reason I say I believe,is becouse it is in Hungarian and a friend tried to translate it) Title is: Hungarian World War One Military Vehicles 1909 1920, Author: Potz??, Date 2003. It is in the form of the small A7V booklet by Shiffer. about 40 pages. If some one can translate Hungarian I will send them the scans. In the mean time here is some more photos.

The pics are most interesting!  Particularly the last two.  The vehicle has a Rheinmetall 7,7cm M1914  BAK mounted!  Likely an experimental prototype...  I must have a copy of this book!

Would you kindly scan the cover , ... I'll take off with it from there.....

Those last two photos look like a model (note the canvas cover, the folds give the impression of being out of scale). Both photos bear a stamp: Auto *something* Museum Budapest.

You are correct Peter

At the end of the title is the word (haditechnika) I wounder if it is a booklet put out by that magazine??????

By the way I checked it out, it only has half the pictures and information as the booklet, but it can provide a little information if you can not find the booklet.

From my digging Eugene they were captured from the Russians. I would love to see a real picture of this machine.

but the russians never used austins, or were they captured in 1917?

also I read some info on the stuff the austrians captured, the took lots of Russian aircraft, but one book (I think it was Russian armored cars 1906-1917) mentioned one garford falling into the Austrian hands right around the time of the Revolution

Not sure what year they were captured, And this is not a British Austin, This vehicle was pieced together from various versions. It just happens to look British.
