More details as promised: . This was the 1935 La Licorne a French prototype for an amphibious armoured car. This had two small wheels (almost outriggers) towards the front, two huge wheels amidships and a fifth small wheel to support the rear. The two big wheels supplied the drive both onshore and in the water. They were fitted with rubber tyres for use on land and had vanes on their outer faces so that they acted as paddlewheels in the water. Little more is known about this vehicle as on its maiden water trial it managed to thrash a small distance and then sank, effectively ending further development.
