This photo is entitled "The Kaiser in Bowness 1900" but I can't make head or tail of it. It does suggest that the need for security and body guards was much less then than it is now
I can't see a Tank, a double-decker bus, or a cartoon character in the picture. There's a bloke who looks a bit like Kaiser Bill, though. He stayed at Ambleside in the Lake District on a couple of occasions, and a bungalow was built for him to stay in at Martindale, near Ullswater, in 1912. It's still there and can be rented for holidays. I think we should have the Landships Christmas Party there this year.
