I think this train has featured in a lot of pics, but it's the first time I've seen this rather nice shot of it. Interesting that "armored" is spelt the American way.

This is the Artillery Wagon of the Armoured Train "Norma" or "Alice".
Hedi - you can't leave it at that! Have you got more info?

Please note that there were two types of armoured trains in Belgium during 1914 :
1) the heavy ones equiped with British naval guns and manned by Anglo-Belgian crews. These had (later) an official nickname and their batteries received also an individual name.
2) the light ones with one Belgian made gun and with Belgian only crews. The latest pic published on the site shows the front armoured wagon of that sort of train. I have not come across any official nickname for these 100 % Belgian trains. There were humorous names chalked from time to time on the armour, like "wagon-lits", but I am not aware of official names like "Alice" or " Norma". I am therefore very interested to see evidence of these two last names. Gemsco
Two other pictures. Apparantly the train had two cars, the loco in between. Car number one had a 57mm and two MG's, a third MG was on the other car. Crew existed of 60, volunteers and a second loco was for reconnaissance.

Greetings, I don't know if these pictures help this thread. They are taken from the book; 'The Lines to the Front' by William Aves. I do not know if I have broken any Official Secrets Acts; Civilian Laws; Copyrights or board rules by posting them. If so please remove them and tell the 'men in black suits' not to call me......
