Here is the reason why i was not so often on board the last weeks.
I builded a full steel modell of a canon after a only one foto i found in the book of Hans Mehl : ships and coastal artillery -marine guns since 500 years.
It was the pic of the Finsporg M 76 naval canon cal. : 27 cm . Fascinating for me was that it was a m u z z e l l o a d e r with a hydraulic recoil system holding up the backslide of the upper lafette. This beast was even build in 1879 - not for us WW1 -nuts you 'll think- but it is even interesting for the history of upcoming "modern" artillery.
Cause it is shown at the Statens sjöhistorica museum Stockholm -sweden special request to Peter Kempf -are there any informations about this monster.
gun barrel weight - 24 tons . It was jused at the canon boat ROTA till 1905 !
I build it in size of nearly 1 :10 Really functionable hydraulic with a 11 mm Piston !
Measurements : Length : 46 cm high : 125 mm Wide : 165 mm Barrel : 41 cm cal.: 20,25 mm ( not fitting to 27 mm but in fact of duty at a drill of 20,25 mm )
In fact i decided to wide up my model-steam machine "facturing " i will build
now and in future important heavy artillery guns -not even able to shoot - but probably for salut fire from cause to cause. Weapon rules are very restricted in germany !! I offer this modell at e-Gun where i am registered as merchant .
Hope especially Roger Todd and others here are not angry about waiting for my anounced Gamma Mortar - it will be ready sometimes ........
I was going to post a link to a site about Swedish artillery - but it's gone! There's a 305mm coastal howitzer I thought I'd try to get you interested in
PS: No worries about Gamma! Just go with the flow, as they say!
