Does anyone have any information about the Rolls Royce Armoured Car Roden are planning to release? I'm really hoping they'll do a WWI version like in the photos attached, with the taller cupola and spoked wheels, although maybe they'll only do the 1920 version because of more available sources? (ie existing 1920 pattern Rolls Royce at Bovington)
also mentioned in the thread is the DOC models rumoured fiat 3000.
not mentioned in the thread are the FT17 tanks promised by Mirage.
while you're waiting for the plastic version, i see that Cromwell have lowered their price on their Roller and vastly improved their service. i used them very recently and i was dumbstruck. very very good service now.
and i have to tell you about Millicast's Roller! yes, its the 1920 pattern but its an excellent model. Re-made, so its different from the version Peter Kempf reviewed; the chassis is not bent and there are fewer parts. its very simple to backdate; spoked wheels from Scalelink, remove the radiator cover louvres and align the vision slits in the crew compartment screen.
the same Roden rumour surfaced on the missing lynx forum a few days after the thread on this forum.

Yes, I haven't seen anything to really substantiate that rumor. Perhaps it's just wishful thinking? Roden DO have a very strong Great War Aero line, and it would mean the world, yes that coveted tipping point, if they would do WW1 Military stuff a well.
But I am sad to say that there is nothing - yet - to substantiate this rumor.
The resin Rolls-Royce mentioned ARE very good. And backdating is easy!

I can't find it now, but I'm sure I read somewhere that Mirage have abandoned the idea.

Yes, I guess that the combined efforts of RPM and HÄT killed them off. A pity really, as the world could do with a kit that in comlexity was a sort of cross between the very simple HÄT FT-17 and the extremly complex RPM effort.
I think I've heard about someone doing a resin track assembly to use with the RPM kit. Anyone knows who?
Cheers guys, i've already ordered the Reviresco Roller (well, for christmas anyway). If i'm not pleased with the outcome of that i'll have a go at Milicast's one though
There's a resin correction set for the Ft17 running gear on Modelltrans Modellbau's website. They're based in Essen. They find some stuff difficult to source, but I've had some bits sent to me in the UK quite swiftly. Regards, Tony.
I've got a Milicast Roller "under way",along with all the other stuff.Wheels are moulded onto the chassis & body, and it already has some stowage in the back.I've drilled out the wheel discs &added spokes from Part's Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter brass set which I had leftover.I have an idea of doing it in a desert diorama with a ModelT MG car, perhaps.
