Changing the gas-cartridge of my welding-burner today it makes "click " in my mind -maybe i am wrong ,but i think some of you will dash in the garage next time ..... and by doing some work with tin-tools...... The only thing i am angry about myself -seems to have thrown some "Fahrpanzers" allready ....
Sorry that i was aliitle bit short with presenting my idea. I put the cartridge on a piece of rail from a 1 : 32 gauge -means Gauge 1 When we go out from a trench-gauge in original 600 mm we come to a scale of 1: 13.5 600 mm : 45 (45mm light-distance between the modell rail piece ) = 13.33- rounded a litle bit - 13,5 . Sorry Paul -too big for yours juse . But big enough for good detailing. The best comes now. When looking exactly at the Fahrpanzer article at landships i saw that the lower region of the cuppola is bent in a little bit . In cause of not knowing this detail i put the right cartridge asside some minutes before . Please have a look at the new pic. The measurements of the cartridge -not original Camping-gaz but Einhell -sold in the UK, Italy, Netherlands ,France . are : 86mm diameter 90 mm high . At so often the idea is there -but no time for realizing - have to build 6 "dictator " mortars of the civil war for sale -the mother of all railway-guns as you know . Picture of the prototype (allready sold ) beneath the "Fahrpanzer " How says Nailcreek ? Iwill build this thing -sometimes really.... EXACT !!!
I have just joined this group as I'm researching fahrpanzers with aim of making a model in 1:24th scale. I found a plan in libary book yesterday. It appears to be an early version diameter 1.40m, height from ground including rail 1.88m. The embrasure in front 1.35m hight. Hope this helps.
Thank's for reminding me to take measurements of the gas-cartridge. They are :high 91 mm and diameter 86 mm. According to your researched original measurements it will fit for a size of 1:16 Juchhuuu a custom size !! But the high is then 26mm too short-maybe 16mm -when not from the rails . Did you have a look at the Fahrpanzer on Landships ? Many informations there . Also a "walk-arround "

It is amazing what is on the net. I now have located almost 80 pictures & plans of fahrpanzer and their fortifications. I have started my brace of fahrpanzers in 1:24th scale for a small operating fort rail system.
Indoor Gn15 scale so I'm cheating and using 16.5mm track for the main (inner) running track. The Swiss version I'm modelling also has outer rails for stability so total of four rails. I haven't figured out the gauge for the outer rails yet.
I'm currently working on mount for a 3v motor inside the fahrpanzer to drive turret traverse when sitting in the firing casemate/unterstand.
