I am in the process of downloading various old publications from Google Books and have uploaded what I have so far to a filesharing folder, here:

Because I am also involved with various naval forums, there is a mix of both military and naval material.

Of potential direct interest here is Andrew Noble's book on artillery and explosives (contains much on naval guns and mountings, but the scan is poor in places, sadly), Ivan Bloch's book 'The Future of War' (aka 'Is War Now Impossible?') and other stuff. I shall be regularly updating the folder with new material as and when I find it, so you may want to keep an eye on it.

You will need a fairly up-to-date version of Adobe Acrobat Reader, version 7.0 or above (for example, Acrobat 5.0 can't cope with the files).

The ebook on aeroplanes and dirigibles is very interesting, too.
It analyses the development of the Zeppelins and the other airships as well as the aeroplanne.
The book is relatively non jingoistic seeing it was written during the war and shows a lack of rancour that exhibited itself later.
The book has been written in basic terms as it was aimed more at the popular market than the scientific one. Many of the comments are amusing, such as - "there seems to be no commercial potential for the aeroplane" and the internal combustion engine is referred to as a "fast exploding engine".
It's a short book, which I downloaded as a text file so I'm having to reformat it in Word to make it easier to go through.
Anyone who wants a copy of the Word version, please drop me a line.
The Handbook of Artillery has some great photos of the cammo patterns on guns (but in b & w) and is worth a look.
The book on the Boer War is somewhat different than the run-of-the-mill history books in that it starts off with building a comparison between the Boers and the Roundheads. An interesting exposition for anyone interested in either of the two wars.
