In my local hobby shop we have a sale of old Fujimi figure sets. While the figures per se aren't too good, the Japanese infantry set has a neat looking cannon with them http://www.plasticsoldierreview.com/Review.asp?manu=FUJ&code=76030 Is it possible to make a WW1 gun out of this piece of artillery? D.
Hi D , I just realised this gun looks rather similar to the Schutztruppe moutain gun here...... This was used in West Africa by the Germans, later captured examples formed a battery used by the British in East Africa.. might work as a basis or is the kit too big?...
The gun should as it was a Japanese built version (licenced?) of a Krupp piece to start with. The trail assmebly is different from the origional Krupp piece as the Japanses modified it for ease of man handling etc.
The pic of the news paper clipping below shows what I believe is the original Krupp piece. In the photo it is part of a batch supplied to Serbia for a competion for their mountain batteries - only a small number were supplied (though it was at least 4). There Serbs chose the competing Schneider-Canet in 70mm.
