Hi Peter, I agree its a fiddly kit and the parts are prone to break when you take them off the sprue or so it was with the first one I built, a comand version.. the secound one was less of a problem cos the plastic was softer and not so brittle and I managed to remove all the parts without bracking any, at the moment their undercoated awaiting completion but I'll post when there done ...... I think the resin tracks would cut down on the build time enormously
I just finished a RPM Russky Reno, using a Modelltrans trackset. The trackset is of very good quality and in one piece; just what I needed. The fitting to the model is not perfect, but sufficient. You might need to use some messing rods as connecting pins. Still the RPM kit parts don't fit that well, so I think I'll be trying a MGM kit for my next FT-17 project.
Oooops.... I did mean indeed brass rods... Messing is the Dutch word for the copper - white metal alloy. A rod of max 0.5 mm thickness should be sufficient. The RPM hull has clearly indicated places where to drill a hole for the rearwheel pins.
