I see a lot of good photos of the A7V's on this site, but the information seems a bit scanty on them. The question I have is where and when were they produced? I have not been able to find this information on this forum. Thank you for your time.

The A7V tank was the marriage of a chassis with an armoured hull. The chassis were produced at the Daimler Plant in Marienfelde near Berlin between May 1917 and March 1918, in all 100 of them.
The 20 armoured hulls for the tanks were assembled at Steffens & Nölle in Berlin-Tempelhof and there also put upon the chassis.
Completion of the tanks than again happened at Daimler's.
The first A7V tank became ready by the end of October 1917, the last one approximately in mid-April 1918.

To add to Mad Zepellins correct explanation, the chassis was designed as a tracked supply vehicle that could have the armoured body fitted to it, but there had to be modifications, which I think mainly involved adding brackets to hold the body.

The body could be removed from one chassis and fitted to another as was the case with 504 being fitted onto chassis 544 (I think)

Excellent discussions happening on the A7V on this forum!
