Yet another I.D. request (you guys should think about charging)

Gentlemen,

I was hoping someone could identify "Minna" for me please. She looks larger than 15cm, but then I'm no expert.

I've thumbed through my Herbert Jäger's German Artillery of World War One and the usual online resources and have drawn a blank - which is not uncommon confuse

Thanks in advance,

Brett

Hi Brett I dont know what kind of mortar it is but its a great pic, some quick calculation based on the standing figures and the size of the shell indicates Minna is probarbly a 21cm or there abouts.....

Thanks Ironsides. Page 173 of German Amateur Photographers in the First World War has an excellent frontal picture of the type.

... your pic illustrates the 21cm Morser.   ( It did not receive the designation Model 99 until after the vastly improved Model 11 appeared,  and the need for differentiation became apparent. )   This weapon saw extensive action during the war.

The preserved example in the Royale Armee Musee is the only survivor to my knowledge.   It is actually two pieces in that there are a pair of barrels displayed;  One on the rohrwagen,  and the other on the carriage in transport mode.
