This is my modest aproximation to an 8 inch Howitzer, British manufacturing, early mark.
Again I express my gratitude to my dear colleagues Philty Dirty Animal, Topcat & Gary M for their kind assistance. Aldo Mastrostefano kindly took the pics. Best regards

Very kind of You all, Ironsides, Brennan, Baldwin,Rob. The scale is 1/35, wheels were built up as follows: start with two plastic "rings" sliced from a cilindrical plastic pills container-I was lucky enough to find one of the proper diameter, fortunatelly this containers comes in a variety of sizes- Then I rolled (or wrapped around) all overall the external surface of each ring with a strip of textured plastic evergren appropiately cut down, and glued it with a Ciano adhesive ( it is not adviseable using liquid cement for this, You will nedd a fast adhesion and sealing because the strip teds to came back to it´s original form while you are rolling it). Now arrange the patern of the spokes, based upon the nice Mr. Musgrave 8 inch Howitzer drawings).God bless him!! Also be fast at this stage, because once the spokes have been glued in a uninform pattern they help to add stability to the unstable and fragile wheel assembly. Finally reinforce all joints with a bit of liquid cement, let it dry overnight. Now you will have a decent approximation to the wheels design, (and it is up to you to ad more details or WW1 mud). Other components are a lipstick tube container ( the gun barrel), several lollypop candies plastick sticks from various sizes (recoil mechanism), and several gysmos from my scrap box. Hope this modest bits could be from some help, and again thank you for the kind words. Best regards, Ed
Oh, I am not in my house now, so I wish I could take a ruler, but the plans have been scaled down to 1-35 from the original drawings Mr. Musgrave done some years ago, among other useful sources. More less 18 cm. aprox. I remember. Being my models a decent aproximation in details and shape, I always try not to fail in the accurate dimensions. The gun was big in its overall shape, but no so massive as other contemporary arty pieces. Now I am turning to another arty piece, not sure which one yet, but shall be german this time, the decision is among one of these, 21 cm, 28 cm or 8 cm Flack, depending on the degree of complexity, info and raw materials avaiable. I have built several years ago a Grand Puissance 194 mm fully tracked, which is in this site´s gallery, but shame on me, did not finished my 30.5 morser yet.... Ed
