Death card German Tanker
Permalink

Dear all,

again I would like to share with you something from my collection. Today I bought a death card of a Bavarian Tanker of the "Bayerische Strumpanzerwagenabteilung No. 13".

He was heavy wounded in the first combat action of the Bavarian tank unit, which was on 27th May 1918. The next day he died.

This tanker lived in a small part of Siegsdorf, which is a small town near Traunstein. It is half the way from Munich to Salzburg. It is only 10 minutes by car from the place where I originally came from.

Regards
Chris

Hello

19 tanks were involved in the attack on the 27th May 1918 on the Chemin des Dames- most of these tanks are named in Maxwell Hundleby's book- does anyone know any more information on the crews of the individual tanks?

A history of Abteilung 13 was mentioned here years ago by FAR48 in this thread:

Could be helpful if FAR48īs offer is still standing.
