There were some FK96s produced with smaller wheels than the standard gun. Some of these were used in the anti-tank role with the top section of the gun shield removed. There is a survivor at Miles, Queensland. (www.ammsbrisbane.com/documentation/fk96_4.html)
Were limbers produced with smaller wheels as well or was the standard limber used?
CharlieC, the guns were almost inevitably deployed right forward by manhandling & with drag ropes etc. There are supposed to have been sufficent for 50 batteries ( I asume 4 guns each) plus some reserves. I have never seen or read about these guns being in action with limbers! I roughly understood that ammunition was also worked forward by hand drawn cart but have never seen a photo of one.
