Good job, plastikk. It takes guts to make your work public!

The Mark II is a fairly simple build, isn't it? Like your paint scheme and scenery.

Waiting for the new Airfix female? I'm sure you know that for a female Mark II, you will have to change the machine guns from Vickers to Lewis. The kit comes with Vickers because it is supposed to be a Mark I:

Here's my Mark II male (with figures by W^D Models):

You can see that I haven't painted the underneath! Too lazy!

Perhaps for the tracks you could do a rust-coloured wash? They rusted quickly (and it was rubbed off just as quickly when the tank moved again).

On mine, I just did a very quick black wash, with a very big brush!

I do like all the models shown on this theme.

The airfix WW1 was one of my first model tanks and it still a nice model. This week I managed to pick up the 'new' female to work on. Yes it is the male set with an extra spruce. The female parts were well worth the wait. I would ask why the burk who designed the new spruce did not add ONE roof piece to replace raised hatch with the round one. Such an easy thing which the art designers clearly realised on the box and the leaflet showing the colour scheme!

Just one question. looking at the top pictures were there different types of rear ends? Looking at the Matador mkII instructions they seem to indicate an open box rather than a sealed box - are both correct?

.......and PDA. When I have finished my MkI female I will move onto a mkII female. Thanks for the information that the vickers were replaced by lewis guns.

I suggest that you go directly to Matador in future. I have found them to be very quick!

Unfortunately I went to Scalelink in the first place because I placed an order with Matador a month earlier, and in the end didn't hear anything for four months before receiving the items despite repeated letters. Half of the items from Scalelink arrived in a couple of days, but the spudded tracks, and the fascine to finish off my girlfriend's Cambrai Mk IV are still on back order

Were there different types of rear ends? Yes. I think so! The open box was common on fighting tanks, and the closed box was common on supply tanks as far as I can tell from photos. But I think it was a field modification, so both of the above are plausible (IMO).

I have this kit, but it's quite innaccurate. If you paint it light grey and give it a round roof-hatch, leave out the ventilation (And cover up the hole) and don't add the exauhst, you get a 100% accurate "Mother" MK I!
