Well I have finally put the knife to plastic and I have begun a Mk2 supply tank using the Airfix kit. Does any one know if the Mk 2 would have used the same type of stowage racks and box as the Mk1 did? I have changed the cab depth and added a strip of plastic on the roof.
Definitely the same type of stowage box on the roof as the Mk I. The rear of the tank however... it could be either the same as the Mk I or retaining the small stores box of the Mk II. Personally, I would go with the Mk I type of rear. All pictures I have seen of any type of supply tank show them to be absolutely smothered in stores so a larger compartment at the rear would make more sense.
Of course, as soon as you settle on which one to build and have reached the point of no return in modifying it, a photo will turn up showing it to have been done the other way. Murphy will not be gainsaid!
Ok, a picture of each. The roof box for the Mk I and II looks, to me at least, to be identical. The Mk II in the second picture is hiding behind and to the left of the Mk I wireless tank. You can still make out the stores box on the roof containing numerous petrol tins. Notice that it sits upright rather than at a rearward angle as on the Mk IV. Unfortunately I know of no photos that show the rear of a Mk II supply tank. Neither did David Fletcher when I contacted him about 4 years ago. Incidentally, the Mk I and II supply tanks had the cab roof hatch that Airfix incorporated into their model. As the tank they partly based their research on had been (at one stage) a supply tank, it makes sense.

Thank you all for the help. I think that since there are only a couple of pictures of supply tanks I am pretty safe in coming up with some common sense solution that incorporates all the information I have on this version and still be fairly accurate.

And until/unless a photo turns showing otherwise, you can say that your model is 100% accurate! (Well, 99.7683625%, due to molding limitations)
