http://www.dragonmodelsusa.com/dmlusa/prodd.asp?pid=ZVE8082 http://www.michtoy.com/item-ZVE-8082-WWI_Russian_Infantry.html say expected release date is December 2010, with the figures being "1/72 Scale (22mm or 1 inch)".
I notice the Michtoy site says the set contains a machine-gun, which isn't shown on the box and I don't think is mentioned on Zvezda's site. It that's the case, with any luck it will be more like the Esci and Revell Maxim than the HäT attempt.

The sprues are up on Zvezda's site. There's a wheeled Maxim and a flag-bearer.

This could be easily the best Russian WW1 set in 1/72 on the market (insert smilies indicating irony here).
Well the HäT infantry set is not bad, it's the "heavy weapons" set which I would not buy again.
I see bayonets, an MG gunner in a good position, and MG wheels with spokes, which is all good news. The officer is waving his sword as he is supposed to. There seems to be also Sgt Pointing included, and a total of 40 figures.
The layout reminds me a lot of the WW2 Soviet Marines set from Pegasus, which is excellent. Now let's hope they got the size right...

Spot on Pat. Lets hope your last sentence comes true as the German set was ruined by gaints.
A correction. The officer isn't swinging a sword around, he is holding binoculars. I oversaw this pdf with all the details http://www.zvezda.org.ru/images/sets/photoes/8082/01.pdf or perhaps it wasn't online when I looked the last time.
The Maxim is in a propped (= elevated) position, which is a first in 1/72.
Images of the figures assembled, shown together with the new WW2 ones and the WW1 Germans - most WW1 Russians seem to be no smaller than the latter: http://photofile.ru/users/henk_davion/3868857/91604185/#mainImageLink http://photofile.ru/users/henk_davion/3868857/91605486/#mainImageLink http://photofile.ru/users/henk_davion/3868857/91605688/#mainImageLink

Figures aren't my most knowledgeable area, but I am on the mailing list for Jadarhobby shop Poland and Darek Szenfeld now lists this set in stock, if its any help for anyone?
