Great to see that there are some British sets coming along and they do not look too bad.
Just need HaT to start getting all their WW1 sets (must be in the mid 20's of outstanding sets) that they have proposed into production. Unfortunately MkIVs moved at a quicker speed than the HaT production line - with the exception of Napoleonic sets! How long will it be before the cavalry be supported by the HaT BEF infantry?
I wished I could agree, but the early war set has only two of the twelve poses obviously in a fight.
Another comment on the early set: The rifles look to fat, but otherwise the sculpting seems to be as good as anything Strelets have produced so far. I like their cavalry sets. The bulky proportions are less noticable in cavalry sets, or is it just because there's no other sets from other manufacturers to put next to them? Regards, Pat
The rifles are about the only thing I don't like in these new WW1 sets from Strelets. I can see myself doing many arm swaps (with that Loctite glue, perhaps ) just to get the rifles to look right. This was said many months ago in Strelets forum; it looks like 28mm rifles on 1/72 figures.
The rest of the new sets and the other details of these cavalry sets look fine. I think Strelets have played to their strengths by choosing 'bulky' subjects. And I think these will look great when painted. (Also, I've noticed from experience, that Strelets stuff never photographs well and looks much better in the flesh.)
Hi PDA, I've read an earlier comment of yours about the diffculty to do Strelets figures justice in photos. Your positive examples were the German cuirassiers (which I agree are about Strelets' best) and the WW1 Russians in winter uniform (which I hoped would look good in their coats and fur hats, but they didn't - at least for my taste they were still too bulky, so I'll have to look elsewhere for figures to convert into WW2 Romanians...).
