I have been searching without success for some time for a HO scale Mk IV Tank to represent GRIT (Female Mk IV Tank Serial number 4643) the tank which came to Australia for raising War Loans. I am a railway modeller of NSW Railways from about 1890 to 1920 and as it was transported by rail when in NSW I want to make a model. The only indication of a HO model I can find seems to be 1-87 World Tank Depot but these do not seem to be available. Any suggestions?
Hi Aussie Grit, This thread may be of some help, I suspect the "Wiking A7V" I saw for sale in a local shop may be the WTD model reboxed so it may be worthwhile checking there for other tanks from the range....
The other posibilty is Corgi. Some years ago they brought out in thier "King and Country" range a B type bus and a tank,Fray Bentos. They were to a very odd scale, smaller than 1:76. So if you post the width and length of a tank in HO scale I can give you an idea. Being a railway modeller myself (narrow gauge) in 00 scale why did you go for HO? Is 00 gauge not that popular in Australia.
HO scale is by far the most popular railway modelling scale in Australia, especially for Australian prototypes. If any one has a Corgi King & Country model they could throw a ruler over I would be most grateful. The measurements I have are Length: 26ft5in (92.46mm in HO), Width Male 13ft6in (47.25mm), Width Female 10ft6in (36.75mm) and height 8ft8in (30.33mm).
