I am currently doing a project on German late war and Frikorps/Reichswehr Armoured Cars,
Like the Krupp-Daimler Gepanzerten Kraftwagen Sd Kfz. 3, the DZVR, and also the Benz VP21, as well as the Schuposondwerwagen, or any improvised armoured cars, like those used by the Frikorps in Berlin in 1920. These vehicles were built between 1919 and 1921. Any information, Pictures etc..would be very much appreciated.
Do you have access to a copy of Die Deutschen Radpanzerim Ersten Weltkriegby Heinrich Kaufhold-Roll? At a quick glance there's tables with technical specs for all three in the back, and probably some more information and photos.
No I don not have access to Die Deutschen Radpanzerim Ersten Weltkriegby I wish I did, It seems to be a hard book to find here in the states. but I will keep looking.
I'll just post the stats for all of the post war vehicles from the tables in Kaufhold-Roll's book. I don't know how to type umlauts so I have represented them by putting an 'e' behind the vowel in question. I apologise if that offends anyone, and also for the triple 's'!
I finally found the section in the book that covers these vehicles and there are plenty of photos. I don't have a scanner, but if you can't find a copy of the book i could photocopy the section with the photos and snail mail it to you, if you would like. Or maybe someone else who is more computer savvy than me has the book and could scan some of the photos.
I realize this thread is quite old, but I am going to post some details of a photo I have of what I believe is Benz VP21. It was assigned to the Bayer Landespolizei.
I am very sure that this is at the barracks of the Bayerische Landespolizei in Munich (formerly barracks of the famous "Königlich Bayerisches Infanterie-Leibregiment"). Today it is still the barracks of Bayerische Bereitschaftpolizei. And in frot of the main gate there is a big panther out of stone (but creeping, not sitting) - also still the symbol of the Bavarian Police.
