I have finished the painting stage and I will do the pigments next. Since this is an experiment in techniques so I did not add a complete set of markings. The Archer Surface Details worked great but I should have used the larger ones. The Sharpie marker worked very well on the heart and the demarcation lines. I used the ultra fine tip but the next time I will try the fine instead. Applying flat coat darkened the ink and made it more uniform in appearance as well as taking away the shininess of the ink. The tracks were painted Gunmetal and dry brushed with silver. The base paints are all Tamiya and are Field Grey, Brown and a custom mix of Desert Yellow and White. The RPM kit is more detailed but I think a good model can be made from the Hat kit plus you get two models.
