Hello Bernd, You could proabbly use either Ochre or a grey canvas. There are pictures of both out there.
I have about four models of two variations of Daimler Marienfelde truck, I used humbrol enamel #62 Matte Leather to do the canvas tops. The body is done in Matt 31 Slate Grey, commonly accepted as one of many shades of Feldgrau. (See Photos below) but that's just me. The canvas top may very well have been light grey or ochre, but I would perhaps start with a WWII Opels topper, but don't glean too many details from it, as there is a 20 year difference between that and an old Daimler. (But Daimler was not the only truck manufacturer back then, If there is a 1915 Opel near you, Thats also a good reference.) If you plan to do Air corps vehicles their painted in a Light grey for the body, whatever color you choose for the Army truck toppers would probably for Air corps vehicles as well.
Hope this sets you in right direction, Always good to hear from someone in Deutschland.
Greetings, Josh

"General, you have nobly protected your forts. Keep your sword...to have crossed swords with you has been an honor, sir." General der Infantrie, Otto von Emmich
thanks for your reply and the picture! The truck looks great!
I´ve done the canvas of my trucks in different ochre tones as i had to paint 8 or 9 vehicles, so they fit together. When i´m finished, i will poste some pictures here. The scale is 1/87 (or is at least supposed to be that ) because i will put them on some flatcars together with some ari. But the guns will be in 1/72 as there are no guns of that time in HO.
