Finally, for now, a Highlander lance-jack, c. 1914 once again, and also by Metal Modeles.

Last time I attempt tartan for a LONG time.

Nothing wrong with your painting skills, all 3 are excellent. You have said the quality varies, I have not tried this range but would have to say the Poilu has what appears to be an oversized left hand.

Yes, for some reason the sculptor tends to make their hands big. It's a fault that crops up on pretty much all their figures.
You can find pics on the Historex website (look down the left hand side for Metal Modeles, then you will find the Gt War ones somewhere among their large C19th range).
For me, whilst MM have the largest, most varied range, JMD (in particular) and Hecker and Goros are better quality.
