Did anyone see the Time Team episode on the Livens Flame Thrower?
For those not in the know, Time Team is an archeology program that runs for 18 years now. They are invited by the public to do a 3-day archeological dig from pre-historic to WW2. The program is presented by actor Tony Robinson, probably best know for his role as Baldrick in Blackadder.
In this special episode they are digging for probably the only remaining Livens Flame Thrower, that was buried in the mud at the Somme for the last 95 years. They even build a replica of this weapon, which shows the awesome effect it must have had.

I missed that toppic. I was wondering myself where I should put it, and thought that under 'Indiviual weapons & tactics' would be the best. I checked the recent posts on this one and could not find anything on this program, so I posted it here...
By the by, did you know there also was a Time Team episode where they dug a WW1 Bunker? More accurately, a British Redoubt.

I wasn't aware it was on youtube. But as I always say, if it's not on the internet, it probably never happened...
As a slight off topic, they also did one on the Battle of Bosworth Field, where they nocked up a replica cannon. It is quite impressive to see how little has changed since that time (1485) and the Napoleonic age...
