Well I have been working on the sponson a bit and this is what I have done. I added the missing pistol port flap on the right side of the sponson and thickened the post with .010 strip. I also drilled out the vison port as well. The 4 metal strips on the top and bottom of the turret opening were made using .010x.030 strip styrene. I detailed the sponson top with .010x.030 strip and the angle iron is two piceses of the same strips glued to form it. The end of the part was beveled at an angle. I will add the rivets soon. The pistol port on the left side was made from .010x.040 strip according to Helens plans for the Mk I
Can I just point out though that the mud L beam thingy on the roof is angled, and parallel with the outer edge, not the side of the tank. My turn to be unpopular!
I think the key things that are left to add to bring the Airfix kit up to scratch, is the joining plate at the top edge of the sponson, and the shaped flange on the leading edge.
It's good to see this classic old kit being brought up to date.
