Hi all,

I am gearing up for a Korps strengthening and was wondering how compatiable are  most of IT miniatures line with 1-72 and 1-76 scales?

Greetings, Josh

Hi Josh

I find that they are pretty good on the whole. I base all my (plastic) 1/72 figures on pennies (two pence pieces for Officers, NCOs and LMGs) and just add a sliver of card under the IT Minatures base before I base them on the penny. That brings them up to virtually the same height and once the base is finished they blend in perfectly.

I've especially used their Scots Lewis gunners with the Hat Highlanders and they look really good. I've also used their Lewis gunner for a trench parapet as a conversion to a Lewis AA on a tripod which looks great. For our trench game last year we also used their medical station, nurses, doctors etc and they blended in well.

For our forthcoming game at Salute - based on the battle for Diksmuide in October 1914 - I'm using IT Minatures Belgians as there aren't really any others available. Just painting them up now, along with loads of HaT early war Germans! we will of course be using our Crush the Kaiser wargames rules - the new volume for the early war (called "Over by Christmas"). Check out our blog at www.crushthekaiser.blogspot.com for photos on progress.

Besides which, Tim and Maureen who run Frontline Wargaming/IT Minatures are jolly nice people!

Cheers

Paul B

I am looking forward to see the (quite tall 1/72) HäT figures mixed with the (small 1/76) IT miniatures.

While I found my IT miniatures (IT figures at the time) standing figures too short to mix with standing 1/72 ones, the scale difference was less obvious with kneeling poses. And of course you can use IT miniatures for whole units, the variety of poses makes that easy. Some images:
