Congratulations for this fine job! This "canon de 16 cm modèle 1893 sur affût à châssis modèle 1893" is very beautiful! I have a little remark: the middle part of the sheet-iron trade Platform ("caisson milieu de la plateforme en tôlerie") had hollows of different dimensions of the two others ("caisson de droite" and "caisson de gauche").The hollows are smaller in the middle. Your job is GREAT indeed! These guns of "canonniers marins" were very accurate and the french marine gunners were popular in french Army during the war for the value of their shooting. To illustrate: in august 1917, one battery armed with these guns "16 cm modèle 1893" destroyed in few salves the german observation tower of Etraye (north of Verdun) at 16.000 meters and the observation tower of Romagne at 15.000 meters. Yours sincerely, Guy François.
My French is more than bad, so excuse my little writing mistake. I wasn`t shure about that...
@ALVF thanks very much about your tip. It was very difficult to get much info material about this canon (in detail). So I didn`t see that...maybe it would be very interesting for Domi (Retrokit)...
Cheers and happy modeling (next days I will visit Verdun for spotting)...
Thanks guys!!! Now I´m back from Verdun and have my head full of new impressions. So I decided to build Retrokits "Canon de 155 long de bange mle. 1877". This canon were used in Verdun, so I´m only still searching for right figures....
Thanks for your compliments. I always try my best..that`s always my kind of honor to Retrokit/ Domi, W^D/ Barry etc. for their exellent work...
For information: you can find a detailed report for this diorama in the German Modell-Fan/ June edition. Maybe there will be a report in the Britisch MMI too...but only maybe! I have no information about this...
