information on French light mortars described as "Howitzers" can be found in a US translation of a french manual "Manual for commanders of infantry platoons" 1917 part1 specifically the Brandt and Dormoy-Chateau Pneumatic types..... available from CARL...

Very nice finds, Ivor. Particularly like the art nouveau floral cover on the French one. A lovely touch, in the circumstances.
