Sandbags.. lots of sandbags....

Hi

I'm making a diorama of a short section of trench, flanders, c 1915. Naturally this is going to need sandbags to support the walls and the breastwork, lots and lots of them. I've seen some great instructions for making them individually in milliput, but given how many I need and the fact that the figures are 28mm (which I make about 1/64th?) I'm wondering if there is a quick way to produce a pile of sandbags en masse?

I always use a two-part epoxy modeling putty for creating sandbags and for me it is the best way to create natural positions of it...wink

Roll of air-drying clay (Das Pronto) wrap with facial tissue and then indent size with a blunt edge, position on diorama and seal with diluted PVA glue.Paint when dry. HTH

I'd second Paul's suggestion, this is pretty much the system we used for the umpteen numbers of sandbags we needed for our trench game last year. Once you get a production line going it all ends up being pretty quick - with three of us doing it, it ended up being only an evenings work and there were a LOT of sandbags!

Cheers

I've gone with the Das approach for these, and they do look good - there will be photos in due course

Thanks everybody
