I seem to remember an old thread saying that these were bolts intended for spaced armour plates to be added to the roofs of tanks in that theatre as extra protection, but the plates were never fitted. Will have a look for old threads to link to.
Hmmm - can't find anything better at present, but there is at least a vague reference to it in the second of these threads; try using the search function, or else trawl through the lo-o-o-o-ng list of old tank threads. I'm sure there's something in there somewhere!
I would suggest trying variations on "Gaza", "Palestine", "Gaza tanks", etc in the search box; it's not a guaranteed method, unfortunately, as it tends to bring up some unrelated answers and gives you a maximum of ten responses. Even when it tells you there are more than ten matching threads, you cannot view all the matches, for some reason!

I hope I have put this in the right place, if not, please feel free to move or delete this post.
I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the knobbly sticky upy things (please excuse my excelent english with this) are on the back of Kia Ora, and also seen on the back of other tanks sent to Palestine (please see attached pic)? I am at the point of my build where I am about to mark out and drill holes for these, but it would be handy to know what they are so I can replicate them appropriately.

Thank you very much. I would not have had the first idea on what to search for to begin with lol.
As far as I know they are the spacer bolts for the spaced armour roof plates that were never fitted... I believe they were kept as they made good tie down points.
Not all Mk1s seem to have them, not sure if the crew removed them or the manufacturers stopped fitting them as production was sped up to make the delivery deadline.
The survivng Mk1 at Bovi only has a few in place and the holes for more are not there.
MadAsKiwi, have just found a thread about the spaced armour/studs (whilst looking for a different thread, naturally), have a look at this - it describes the pattern of the studs, which may help with your model.

That is absolutely perfect. Thanks for the link. Interesting that it is basically the same as a 5|5 domino. It has helped immensely. Thanks for your help again
