...and one of them is a real surprise:

42cm 'Big Bertha' and German Siege Artillery of World War I (New Vanguard)

http://www.amazon.com/Bertha-German-Siege-Artillery-Vanguard/dp/1780960174/ref=pd_sim_b_20

World War I Battlefield Artillery Tactics (Elite)

http://www.amazon.com/World-Battlefield-Artillery-Tactics-Elite/dp/1782005900/ref=pd_sim_b_3

Amazon is listing them as being available late next January.

New Vanguard has seemed kind of hit-or-miss in terms of the quality of information in the last few years, but I'm still anxious to see "Big Bertha".  And I couldn't be more excited that Osprey is taking an interest in first world war artillery at all!

Hello,

I am the co-author of the Osprey Book "42cm Big Bertha and German Siege Artillery of WWI."  First off, I apologize for the first sentence of the book description posted on amazon.com - namely, "Big Bertha, a massive German artillery wonder weapon, terrorized Paris in World War I much like the V-weapons did London in World War II."

The sentence is the product of an overzealous marketing person.  I know better and am working to get the sentence removed.  Wish me luck!

My co-author and I worked very hard to cut through the mythology surrounding "Big Bertha" by using primary German and French sources, and to me, confusing the 42cm M-Gerat with the "Paris Gun" is a very basic error.

Regards,

Marc
