6" Howitzer Ammo Colors
Permalink

Hello,

I am not sure if this is the correct Forum topic but here it goes...

Does anyone know what the shell colors were for the British 6" Howitzer?  The only reference I could find was this photo from the Ian Hogg book on Allied Artillery of WWI.

Thanks in advance,

Rob for the USA

Be the same as other shells ie 18 pounders - that's an HE shell so yellow overall with green band to denote Amatol filling, red crosses to denote 'filled'. Fuse and driving band brass
