Fire in German tank at Horse Guards Parade
Permalink

As I have said previously, I know much less about German than British armour, but is this report known?  It comes from the Manchester Guardian for 2 March 1919:

"One of the German tanks on display at the Horse Guards Parade took fire yesterday morning, a light carelessly thrown down catching two gallons of petrol in the fore part of the tank.  There was a big blaze for a few minutes."

According to Wikipedia (yeah, I know how reliable is that):

528Hagen

Lost at Fremicourt, 31 August 1918; captured by British troops and displayed on Horse Guards Parade; scrapped in 1919

Thanks. The article implies there was more than one on display; can anyone tell me whether that's correct?

Schnuck and Hagen were both on display on Horse Guards. Thanks to someone who cannot be named, the Wikipedia article on the A7V is largely trustworthy.
