In the fascinating National Slate Museum near Llanberis, north Wales, is this 1917 built battery electric locomotive built by Brush of Loughborough. This, and others of the same type (two are still in use on the Hythe Ferry Pier train!) were built for use in munitions factories during the war - this one was used in a mustard gas factory. It was sold off post-war to a quarry in the Blaeanu Ffestiniog area, then in 1963 to Aberllefenni Quarry. The museum acquired it in 2008 and it is undergoing restoration to working order
