This photo was published in a book Track prints by Richard Pullen. Pictured tank Mk.I C.13. Lt. Sir John Dashwoods. Please show me the picture and the inscription of the tank in the best quality. I'm sorry, my English is very bad.

According to a notation by the adjutant of D Co., C13 was tank 716. While under the command of Sir John Dashwood on 15/9/16, it broke a track near Angle Wood onthe approach to its starting point, and did not go into action. The tank was attached to D Co. a few weeks later, and was in action at Arras in April 1917. Dashwood was in command of a female tank on 25/9/16.
The painting is curious, in that it appears to show Dashwood's tank in a heavily damaged and partially cannibalized state at Angle Wood, which couldnot have beenthe case, given its future employment.
Dashwood took command of tank 523 for the second action.
I also have a copy of the sketch at Angle Wood; the tank looks in good order other than the tracks which are not shown.
Maybe the artist was not confident in drawing tracks
Stephen, the idler sprockets appear to have been removed from the front horns of the tank in the sketch, as well as the tracks. The outer plates of the starboard rear horn also appear to have been blown off. Have a look at these photos of the wreck of 745, taken near Courcelette, for comparison.
