After several months of detailing the MGM 1/72nd Uberlandwagen is not finished. I used Black Lion decals. They are great but very sensitive to rough handling. I had to paint some of the swastika center crosses due to my clumsy hands.
Some minor issues - I realize now that the swastika unit markings on the side should be centered in the panel but I am sure there were variations. I can live with it. The roof was warped and no matter what I did (hot water, hair dryer) I could not get it symmetrical. Photo #5 shows the wave.
I plan on added some of W^D's excellent German figures to the ULW and put it on a base. More to come. Comments and criticisms are welcome.
A lot better than mine. helps when you get one without much flash it would seem.
Greetings, Josh

Thanks for your kind words. I had always hoped a 1/35th kit version of this vehicle would be released. Since it has not, I had to work with the MGM kit as a start.
My copy of this kit was loaded with flash and lots of resin blobs - especially in the running gear. I used a Dremel tool to remove most of the excess resin. Afterwards, I used a Micro Chisel to slowly define the areas I needed to get to. LOTS of work but with patience and/or walking away for a bit yielded adequate results. Regardless, one should not have to do all this extra work on a kit that cost me over 40USD.
Great work Rob it came out really well, I thoroughly enjoyed following your build up too.
I have an MGM uberlandwagen and will use some of your tips when I get around to building it. Mine also has flash and excess resin where the moulds have started breaking up, if that wasn't enough it's got some serious air bubbles and one of the track units is badly damaged so I'm not really looking forward to kicking it off

Thanks!   My kit's original track units were really poor in terms of resin globs and broken bits. I got replacement units but they were two of the same side - so I had to really hunker down and carve away.  My advice is to work slowly and not try to do too much at a time. Of course, as soon as I finished mine a new 1/72 Uberlandwagen was released. It looks to be a much better casting - but a slightly different cargo bed version.
Rob
PS - Tell me what side track unit you have. Hopefully, it's the same as the spare I have. Would gladly sent it to you.
Thanks Rob that's very kind of you but as I have a spare Emhar A7V I'll rework the track units out of the plastic kit. The MGM ones are just reworked Emhar units anyway and adding the chassis supports and exhaust will be quicker than all the clean up the MGM track units will take.
That's always the way, if I didn't already have the MGM kit I'd buy the ModelKrak Uberlandwagen, I've got some of their other kits and their castings are always first rate.
Thanks for sharing your Uberlandwagen build it's given me faith that something good can be made out of the MGM kit.
