As there has yet to be any mention about these kits I thought I would share with you the content of the kits I have received.
Firstly - the box contains all the plastic components found in a 'Somme 1916' kit (ie MB72001 and MB72002) - so you have a steering tail and grenade roof for the spares box.
Secondly - An extra sprue 'G' contains the 6 components for the sponson support rails. However, there is no chain etc.
Thirdly - A set of decals (the same set in both 'Male' and 'Female' kits) for H.M.L.S' OTAZEL, TIGER, PINCHER, KIA-ORA, SIR ARCHIBALD, LUK-OIE.
What you don't get: The etched brass components for the grenade canopy.
A quick look at my kits suggests that the warp in the floor and roof is less than previously found - I have a 'new' pair of 'Somme' tanks but they have significant, but ultimately inconsequential, twist in those components.
I will be building these tanks in the next couple of weeks and will go through the construction in my: 'Building the Master Box Mk1 ......' thread
Hello, TeeELL, can I ask you to make scan or photo of decal?
I made decals for Gaza MK-I and MK-IV too and now want to compare it with original MB's.
Unfortunately this models are not present at my nearest model shops.
If I understood that additional protective covers from dust and sand in these sets are not presented?
I am presently doing a build of another 'Somme' Mk 1 but decided to look at the instructions of the 'Gaza' Female Mk1. The instructions have changed slightly and my recommendation of fitting the drivers cab before fitting the roof section and floor together has been adopted. I urge caution though with some of the other build suggestions. The 'GAZA' Mk 1's seemed to have undergone many modifications - not necessarily to all of them, so find a good reference photo (s). ie, the rear plate D6 is mentioned and is shown covering the hydraulic accumulator D5 - whilst correct in principle (and applicable to 'Somme' tanks) evidence suggests that the accumulator was removed on 'Gaza' tanks and the shield retained. Lewis machine guns are provided as an alternative to Vickers and it is possible that these may have been used. Track extensions (grousers) have been noted on 'Gaza' Mk1's (and later Western Front Mk1's) and silencers with extended exhaust pipes. The sponson beams can bee found fitted without the cross beam and the roof adorned with further bits of angle iron to hold stores and finally, at least one 'Gaza' Mk 1 has provision for the 'burster plate' armour - proposed but never fitted. Good Luck!!
