I was able to find the old 1/32 Pyro kit ... and am now wondering where to find 1914 period French infantry figures in 1/32 scale ... suggestions?

A cheaper alternative would be getting the ICM "French Line Infantry" set and convert slightly the figures:
As usual, the considerations about the action poses versus the more convenient "relaxed" poses apply.
Take also into account that you'll need to add the taximetre device to the basic pyro parts.
