Found this on MasterBox website, another set of British W1 figures in 1/35th scale. Interesting that they are concentrating on the Battle of the Somme period
I love the sculpting, the poses look natural and relaxed, and all -or most- of the elements carried by soldiers are there. I have some minor quibbles, though: The officer's trench looks strange. I'm quite certain that these garment was "privately purchased" and generally speaking the cut was fuller and the skirts longer (amost to the boot's top rim). While it is certainly possible to find shorter trench coats during WW1, the "shape" of it rarely corresponds to this trim cut.
The figures carry their "box respirators" pouches slung on their hips and also, while still possible, it's unusual in the trench lines. Perhaps this scene corresponds to something out of the actual firing zone?
The man with the rifle on his shoulder is handling it from the barrel. Have you seen a British soldier's attitude in front of an officer? I dare say that the pose is unusually nonchalant, unless, these soldiers are Aussie. But holding the rifle by the barrel?
The man with the open vest and rifle on the ground is holding something with his oher hand. What would that be? A bucket?
Suspect these are not in front line , that's what makes them better, as I am modelling railways, so don't want figures in fighting pose. They reflect on what most soldiers spent most of the their time doing.
The other Somme figures done were based on a real photo, these look like they have been based on a painting. Any inaccuracy is probably in the original painting. Would have thought there were enough photos to base figures on, but then there might be issues with this.

Looking at the figures I think they are suppose to represent a Lewis gun team.I did a lot of research for my (W^D) set of figures.Eventually I found a superb site in New Zealand which has a detailed history and images of the uniforms of the Lewis gun team and what equipment they wore/carried.
If this set IS to be a Lewis gun team then it is not correct.I would have said it is a group of soldiers one of which has a Lewis gun.
Thanks Druid Ian for the Lewis gun magazine pouch picture. I've never seen that (I'm mainly a WW1 aviation modeller, so for me the Lewis gun magazines are always stored in racks).
As for the relaxed poses, I like them. Just that holding the rifle by the barrel seems unlikely...
