Good capture of the chains / release system for the fascine !
The 2 chains linked to the ring caught in the small releasing hook are seen on the fascines used at Cambrai. You can still see the releasing mechanism on D51 Deborah.
A few points for the ones who want to install a fascine ( Not a crib ):
- "Super Fascine" was only used for the battle of Cambrai ( So not in 1918 , that would be a Crib )
- There should be 2 adaptors ( Kind of hooks made with flat steel @ 90 degrees ) riveted on the front top of the cab to stabilise the fascine ( There is a railway sleeper in the fascine to set on these 2 adaptors)
- On the front of the tank , each side of the towing eyes , there is 2 " hooks " to place cables and chains .
- A rope was placed between the chains of the fascine and the chains/ cable caught by the hooks
- A wooden beam was used as a spanish windlass to tension up this rope.
Note : The tanks wit a top towing device ( Wire pullers or Supply ) were not equiped with a fascine .
thanks for your kind informations about use of fascines on Mark IV tanks. My model shown is more or less a sample to show the Crib and the typical parts for a top drawer, we know that top drawer tanks didn´t carry fascines or Cribs.
As soon as possible I want to show here my Mark IV Male ready built & painted as German captured tank, eventually we will release more stuff for the Mark IV kits from Takom during the year.
