JMD 17cm Minenwerfer
Permalink

Hello,

It has been sometime since I have posted anything here.  Holidays and then the flu (first time I've ever had it) have kept me away from doing any modeling...

This is a 1/32nd scale JMD Minenwerfer.  Normal 1/32nd is 54mm but this now defunct brand actually scaled out to be around 60mm.  As you can see I have added missing detail from this kit.   Here are the additions:

  • I added rivets and a hold downs on the top and front of the cradles.
  • Added trunnion flanges and tightening bars with solder.  As the picture shows I turned the tightening bar ball ends from left over resin from the kit.  I used my Dremel tool.  I had nothing handy to use (not even poppy seeds) so I had to improvise.
  • Sanded down the barrel end to the correct shape and added details in plastic.
  • Currently, I am making the pole used to transport the minenwerfer.
  • I have not attached the sight at this point.

Comments and criticisms are most welcome.

Rob

Rob,

I too bought this kit and was frustrated when I opened the box and saw how the figure dwarfed my Hecker & Gorors items.   it was actually 1/30th scale; though I thought the detail was acceptable,  I immediately put it on eBay.   You've done well with your example!

Thanks for the sentiments guys...

For the cost of this model it should have had more detail.  I don't mind adding it cause there are no other good models of the minenwerfer in this scale.  AC Models does a 90mm version of a minenwerfer, butI received a figure kit of theirs and sent it right back.
