Sigh. Why is one of the Officers wearing a cap whereas everyone else is in a helmet? They would all wear helmets, this seems to be something with model figures I haven't seen anywhere else. Also, the man going over the top has his pack on his back - these would be left behind in an attack, indeed you wouldn't even wear it in the trenches at all, the haversack (smaller pack worn on the left hip) was worn on the back when in 'fighting order'
Business Cat always makes it better! The small pack can be seen on the left hip of the men on the artwork. I'm not sure where the misconception of Officers wearing caps whilst the men wear helmets comes from - copying inaccurate re-enactors, films/TV? When there's a wealth of photos and other information online, for free, there shouldn't really be any excuses
Landships is just a fantastic place to learn about WWI. Every post is a precious source of infos.
Have in my "to do list" some WWI figure and I'll take advantage for sure by your comments.
Moreover, we aren't forced at all to use the figures in the way they are depicted on the boxart.
You can remove the belts of the large packs, for example, molding new belts for the haversacks, or replace the head wearing a cap with another one wearing helmet (don't know whether head and cap are molded together)..
Otherwise, you can set the figures in different situations, i.e. while climbing on a transport vehicle, or getting down, ecc.,with just slight modifications..
I think that the MB figures are good quality ones, aren't they?
I agree that these figures are great and that conversion potential is just down to your own desires. As far as wearing the "right" kit goes, photos' don't show every action so unless you were there ???? potentially anything is possible. Just my opinion

I agree Paul, some of the troops would take everything with them rather than leave it laying around.... cannot have that Cup of Tea without the Kettle.
