My Male & Female correction sets were delivered yesterday.
The quality of the resin casting is lovely, and include some fine parts - all of which arrived unbroken.
Initial observations -
i/ The Female set is considerably better value since it includes the MGs also, which makes you wonder if the Male set should've been a combo of the cab & turned barrels.
ii/ Some of the pistol ports on the cab are sculpted open and some closed, yet there is a separate set of pistol port covers to play with too.. I do think it'd have been better to master the cab with just the pistol port apertures and have all the covers separate. Since, as supplied, you either have to carefully carve off the open covers and replace them with closed ones, or carve off closed ones / drill holes / replace them with open ones. The sets are at total odds with themselves in that respect.
iii/ The periscope apertures are the same incorrect 'doughnut' profile as the Takom kit, instead of being recessed / stepped as per Helen's superb overhead shot of Bovvy's Mk. II Supply Tank, and so will need to be drilled out - which could be easier said than done - might need to drill a large hole and then insert a plug of styrene to achieve the stepped effect instead. Either than or just carve the doughnuts off and go with flush holes.
Those observations excepted though, great sets which negate a lot of scratch building and the need to trawl the Archer's website trying to find suitable rivets.
