Card board??!!  I'm impressed....

Obviously if you've got a 1/50 BL 6inch howitzer model you need a 1/50 Gun Carrier model. I've had one of these for a while

and built another howitzer for the Gun Carrier. There are some changes which have to be made to the howitzer model so it

will fit on the Gun Carrier....

- The brakes have to be folded back against the trail - there are brackets with a hole on the trail sides and the brakes can fold back

and be located with a pin on the original gun.

- The clamp for the loading chute is moved from its storage position at the back of the trail.

- The sights are removed - on the original gun these are stored in leather boxes attached underneath the trunnions.

- The wheels are removed and stored on the superstructure sides of the Gun Carrier. It's a matter of speculation how they were hoisted on to

the sides. They were secured by chains - I haven't done that (yet).

 I'll probably set off a flame war about British artillery colours but as far as I know....

One of the common colours was khaki - certainly all the guns, except for very old guns, were khaki in 1914. The howitzer model is intended to be khaki - Wayne's model

is an approximation of khaki but then you've got to add the colour distortions of my ink jet printer, my camera, the GIMP graphics program and then your browser.

I think Wayne intends to release a version in two greens plus yellow camouflage.

The Gun Carriers were probably brown like the Mark IV tanks - I think my Gun Carrier is perhaps a bit light but at least it's brown.
