You do realise that continued use of the term "FT 17" causes offence to our French viewers and contributors who have had to deal with

ignorant Anglos making up fictitious designations for their vehicles for many years. Some of our denizens even cured Wikipedia of the "FT-17"

fallacy.

Do these "Ignorant Anglos" include the late Col. Robert J Icks, who was writing books and AFV when our parents were children?

I refer you to this encyclopedia,  pag 134: he refers to as Char Renault FT (char mitralleur FT 17) ?

Probably. They're correctly termed FT.

Indeed they are, but they are also designated as Char mitralleur FT 17- ( in fact there's a 1/35 so describing it) To avoid offending the French ( some of whom ialso refer to as I did) as well as the purists, I will cease and desist..no
