I am trying to trace details of the elevating gear as mounted to the 1877 155mm french artillery gun. Several people have sent detailed photographs, but as with the ones on our site they don't show how it was constructed. On our site there is a plan veiw of the elevating gear as a pdf file link. However the other two pdf links showing 'other views of elevating gear' only error when opened.
There are some strange points with regards to the mechanics of this gear, mainly that there would seem to be three pivot points. Two being about the same pivot point the other not!
I am hoping that someone out there can help with these details as the model of the gun is now complete less the barrel elevating system. Will post photo's when complete.

It look like there are a load of broken links - if you email Peter, he should be able to repair them and you can see what's there. Of course, someone else may have saved the images before the links fell apart (I didn't, I'm afraid)...
Sorry for not getting back sooner but have been otherwise tied up. As you state on the site detailing the 120 mle there are pdf file with missing links. I shall e-mail Peter as if the details of the elevating gear were origionaly upon the site then someone must have the pdf / tiff file stored following scanning.
Thanks for your help with regards to this matter.
P.S The 155l mle 1877 gun is now complete including the brake gear and awaiting completion of the elevating gear prior to painting. If now details come forward within the next month then I feel a trip coming on!
