Bonjour, citoyens! Am in Vaux-en-Amiénois, one of Mephisto's resting places in 1918.
This afternoon I stood on what I calculate to be the spot where Mephisto got stuck during the advance on Villers-Bretonneux, or at least close to it. Right opposite Monument Farm, now known as La Ferme de la Couture.
On Sunday am meeting a local gent who has done a lot of research into Mephisto's stay here in Vaux. It seems he has an intriguing anecdote for me. Stand by for a world exclusive.

Well, the story I was expecting turned out not to be the case. But all is not lost. Our charming hosts had confused it with another episode involving a tank in Vaux-en-Amiénois, equally intriguing and not unamusing. Details to follow. Gwyn and Michel might be needed here, for reasons that I shall explain another day.
What is certain is that I now have a 1918 trench map of the area, and have stood, according to Monsieur Nourtier the local historian, on the spot where Mephisto was parked, give or take 100 metres.
