Hello all,

i am looking for the kit realization of the Char Saint Chamond according to original drawings. Does anyone know if they still exist?

I thank you in advance.

Best regards

Never heard of any. Saint-Chamond (FAMH) was taken over by Schneider about 1924 and Schneider gradually abandoned all armaments work in the 1950s.

Whether anything has survived from their archives is a moot point. The people on the forum http://pages14-18.mesdiscussions.net (French) may know if there any surviving materials in the French archives.

However, the manuals for the Saint-Chamond tank can be downloaded from the Gallica archive. These have some drawings of the details of the tank. The Gunpower #29 book by Witold Lawrynowicz has a set of drawings of the Saint-Chamond which seem to be pretty reasonable.

Hello Charlie,

many thanks for your response.

I'll see if I can find something in the French forum.

I have found the manual some time ago, there are very good drawings included.

The drawings in Gunpower # 29 book are unfortunately not usable, because too inaccurate. There is a book in russian language, there are much better drawings included. But also not 100% correct.

I'll see what else I can find, with the material I have, I could already realize the model. At least outside.

Original drawings would be just the optimum, everything else is a compromise :)

Best regards

The 1:72 cardmodel Saint-Chamonds are pretty accurate Wayne (the designer) and "tanker" did a lot of work

to refine the hull shape - especially around the front where most of the drawings were inaccurate. You can download

the Saint-Chamond model at landships.info.

Regards,

Charlie

There is a thread on the Landships forum where Wayne and "tanker" sort out the shape and dimensions of the Saint-Chamond tank:

There may be lots of useful information in this thread.

Regards,

Charlie
