I have recently learned that the first nation to adopt roundels for aircraft identification was France, in 1912. Germany later used the Tatzenkreuz, often wrongly called a Maltese Cross. This is it:
As we know, it was applied to aircraft and tanks, and then superseded on both by the Balkenkreuz, which was nothing to do with the Balkans:
Question is: when and to what items of equipment was the Tatzenkreuz applied?
